A Vast Amount of Opportunity
Whilst our male and female students are educated on different sites, we build in numerous opportunities for enrichment opportunities that are practical, cross-site and co-educational.
Our programme includes;
- Combined Cadet Force
- Duke of Edinburgh
- Outdoor Education including sailing and paddling
Combined Cadet Force
The addition of the CCF to Claires Court’s Co-Curricular offer in 2021 has further strengthened our community cross-site. Our Army contingent, ably led by Captain O’Clee and WO1 Larkin, is thriving. We hold training on a Monday evening, annual camps and exercises all over the country.
Joining the CCF is offered as taster experiences in Year 8 to start in Year 9. 'Cocktail and Combat' was a great event held in the summer term to introduce new starters to the CCF with their parents.
Outdoor Education
The expansion of our Outdoor Education now includes water-based skill development in canoes & kayaks, as well as sailing, leading to expeditions, based in our own centre on Ray Mill Island at Boulters Lock.
Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities. It is designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-28, regardless of gender, background or ability.
The Award offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time.
We have a dedicated website for outdoor education including sailing and paddling as well as DofE - please view it here
After School Activities
Outside of the curriculum, Claires Court runs an impressive after-school activity programme. For some of our students this is an opportunity to get their homework done at school in the supervised study ‘prep’ session, but for most this is a chance to continue their passions for Art, Drama, Music, Craft & Tech, and Sport beyond the rigorous curriculum.
