Claires Court raises over £4,500 for Charity Week

The whole Claires Court community came out in force last week for our Charity Week, the annual fundraising event to help a variety of charitable causes. The final tally is still to be confirmed but at least £4,5000 has been raised for local charities including the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, the Cadet Charity, Thames Hospice and Thames Valley Air Ambulance. Students, staff and parents, combined efforts in an impressive display of activities from Nursery through to Sixth Form including cake sales, Superhero Day, sponsored walks, a parent quiz, a rowathon and a variety of raffles.

Highlights of the week:

Year 6 Juniors ran a marathon in their houses for charity. Children, staff and parents all took part to help each house complete 215 laps of the U11 football pitch with the equivalent of four marathons completed in total!

Years 7 and 8 boys embarked on a 9km Fancy Dress Walk on Tuesday through the surrounding area. Dinosaurs, racing drivers and spacemen joined them making the walk not only a challenge, but also great fun.

Senior Girls pupils and staff raised funds for Thames Hospice (over £600) from the girls running fairground stalls such as a chocolate raffle, balloon darts, tombola, Name the Teddy and guess how many sweets in a jar.

CCF Quiz Night amassed over £1,600 for the PTA and the Cadet Charity.Thank you to the PTA for providing the bar and also Quiz Masters, Mr Richards and Mrs O’Clee, who have devised their questions from music, art, literature and sports ably supported by the Cadets - a great night was had by all attendees.

Sixth Form raised over £200 through their non-uniform day for Save the Children and donations to the Alexander Devine Hospice Service’s Knit Appeal.

It’s inspiring to see the school community come together for these good causes and if Charity week  2024 is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what’s planned for Charity Week 2025!

It never fails to amaze how much enthusiasm our  parents, staff and students show for charity week.  We are delighted to be sharing the money raised with local charities who will directly benefit from this week of activity.
