Our students are rightly celebrating a set of excellent results in a year when educating and celebrating the whole student was even more important coming out of the pandemic.
All students are provided the opportunity to excel in both their academic and co-curricular activities, preparing them not just for school, but life beyond where skills such as resilience, determination and perseverance are valued.
Today our results are viewed with pride with 85% of the cohort achieving A*-C grades and 95% of students gaining entrance to the university of their choice. Some highlights include 100% of students gaining A* - B in History with popular choices of Psychology and Economics receiving 79% and 77% A*-B grades respectively. ICT BTEC also saw a high achievement with 100% of students gaining a Distinction* (A* equivalent).
The school connection with the USA has been enhanced through a multitude of students being offered scholarships to USA Universities. Rachel Okoro has been offered a Soccer Scholarship at Mississippi University, Issy Purser was awarded a Tennis Scholarship at Michigan State University, Hannah Hickson was head hunted by Brown University for a Rowing Scholarship and Nuala MacFarlane has a Rowing Scholarship offer from Minnesota. Luke Fletcher will also be taking up a place at Florida State University.

"Today is a celebration of the focused work, grit and determination shown by our students over the past two years. With so many interruptions and challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic I am doubly proud of each one of them.
It is a privilege to share in the delight of so many getting not just their grades but also places at University in the UK and the USA and other ongoing destinations including a degree apprenticeship for one of our students at GSK.
Just as importantly as academic results, our students have become more resilient, competent and confident and prepared for the next adventures they are each moving onto, ready to take their place in society and shape it for the better. It has been a positive time of recognition and congratulations to all involved in the achievement of remarkable outcomes and I look forward to hearing how students settle into their new routines come September."
Individual academic successes to note are;
- James Connor achieved three A* in Geography, Economics and Maths, and an A* in his EPQ. He has secured his place to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Bath.
- Sebastian Walker was thrilled to receive three A* in Maths, Physics and Biology with an A in his AS Further Maths. He now goes on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath.
- Holly Catton received two A* in both Art and History with an A in English. She has a place to read English at the University of York.
- Elicia Mercer was delighted with her results achieving an A* in Physics and an A in both Chemistry and Maths. She is very much looking forward to studying Natural Sciences at the University of Bath.
"I join our students, their teachers and families today in celebrating these achievements after two years of A Level study, having lost the opportunity before now to demonstrate their expertise in written examinations. Much has been written about how current students have suffered because of the pandemic and #lockdowns, yet for us this is the cohort that have re-engaged in all kinds of competitions and collaborations as soon as they could . We’ve seen that from our Rugby team winning the Under 18 Rugby county title; similar resilience and skill from our sailors and rowers taking part at national and international level; and now we see it from their results in the examinations sat this summer.
We’ve maintained a really strong A*-C performance, despite the requirements of QCA that grades be reduced back in line with those achieved in 2019.
We are delighted that most of our students have achieved their first or reserve choice of university course, and are ready to rise to the challenge of their forthcoming undergraduate studies and we wish them all well."

We celebrate each individual path to success whether that be A* or a personal best of any other grade. Our community is made up of individuals, not numbers; we know each student well and we actively tease out their interests, passions and talents to ensure that their time at Sixth Form is a success for them.
